Fairmount-Southside Historic District, Fort Worth TX

Fort Worth’s Fairmount-Southside Historic District has several beautiful parks to choose from! In this blog post, we’ll take a look at each of the parks in the district and tell you a little bit about what makes them special.
Fairmount Community Garden
This park is a great place to go if you’re looking for some peace and quiet. It’s a beautiful garden with plenty of benches for sitting and enjoying the scenery. The garden is also home to several sculptures, which make for a nice backdrop while you relax.
Watauga Dog Park
This park is perfect if you have a furry friend who loves to run around. It’s a large park with plenty of space for dogs to play, and there are also several water fountains for them to drink from. Watauga Dog Park is always bustling with activity, so it’s the perfect place to go if you’re looking for some excitement.
Garden Ridge Park
This park is a great place to bring the kids. There’s a playground, a basketball court, and a covered pavilion that can be rented out for special events. Garden Ridge Park is also home to the Fort Worth Herpetological Society, which means you can see all sorts of interesting animals like snakes and turtles up close! Also, Garden Ridge has plenty of picnic tables for you and your family to eat at while enjoying some fresh air.
Third Ward Heritage Trail
This park is great if you’re a history buff. It’s home to several historical buildings, including the Texas & Pacific Railway Depot, which was built in 1914. You can also find a plaque here that tells about how Fort Worth area got its name! The trail runs along an old railway line where trains used to run back when this area was thriving with industry before becoming residential neighborhoods like today’s Fairmount-Southside Historic District.
Oakwood Cemetery
If you’re interested in history, then Oakwood Cemetery is definitely worth a visit. It’s the oldest cemetery in Fort Worth, and it’s home to some of the city’s most notable residents. There are also several monuments and sculptures that make for a beautiful walk.
Newby Park
Newby Park is a great place to go if you’re looking for some peace and quiet. It’s located on the banks of Trinity River, so there are plenty of benches where you can sit and watch boats go by or have lunch with friends. The park also has several sculptures that make it even more beautiful!
