The Fish Trap Lake in West Dallas TX is a beautiful place to visit and spend the day. It has become popular for fishing, swimming, and boating. There are plenty of shaded areas that provide protection from the sun while you enjoy some time at the lake. The lake also contains a boat ramp which was built in 1976 with funding from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.

Go Fishing
This lake has a variety of fish to catch including catfish, carp, crappie and largemouth bass. The lake also has a swim area for those who just want to relax in the water rather than fish. There are several picnic areas with tables so you can have lunch or dinner after enjoying your day at the lake. Also there is an ADA accessible fishing pier available on site which was built by TPWD all funds from this project were provided through grants awarded under Section 1433 of Public Law 99-658; money appropriated by Congress through Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act.
Take a Walk
There is a walking trail that goes around the entire lake. The walk is approximately three and a half miles long and provides great views of the lake and surrounding area while you exercise.
Bring your Dog!
This park allows dogs on leashes to enjoy some time with their owners at the lake too. There are areas for them to swim in as well allowing them to cool down while they spend time together outside. O
Go Boating
The Fish Trap Lake has boat ramp facilities available so it’s easy to bring your fishing boat right into the water after unloading it at one of these ramps. It is also a great place to enjoy some time on the water with your family and friends.
Picnicking
There are several picnic areas available for use while you’re at the lake. These spots provide shade and tables so that your group can have a nice meal after enjoying some time together outside.
