Hike the Stone Mountain Park
The Stone Mountain Park is located in DeKalb County, which is about 16 miles east of Atlanta’s CBD. It features an 863-foot-high stone mountain which covers an area of about five miles.
On the east flank of the hill lies the relief of President Jefferson Davis and his two generals – Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.
Other than experiencing the memorial of these confederate leaders, you can also climb to the top of the hill and descend using a cable car.
Have fun at the Piedmont Park
Piedmont Park is the largest park in the Atlanta Metropolitan area. Apart from the running and walking trails, this park is also characterized by sports fields, off-leash dog parks, gardens, and most importantly, it has a playground made for the young ones.
For children who want to take a dip, there is an expansive pool located at the Piedmont Park Aquatic Center, and a splash pad where they can play with water all day long.
As children play, you can head out to the Green Market if you are lucky to be in the park on Saturday. Here, you can buy fresh produce from the farmers, and also find hand-made soaps, sheep cheese, sheep milk, smoked meat and biscuits, as well as Iris Pancakes.
