It Has an Interesting History
Texas Motor Speedway opened in 1996 as part of a $250 million project by Bruton Smith and Bill France Sr. The track was built with the intention to host two annual NASCAR Cup Series races: the spring race being held during April, and the fall race being in November.
In 2001, Texas Motor Speedway began hosting an IndyCar Series race, which takes place in late September or early October. This event is often called “the home of American open-wheel racing.”
