Savannas Preserve State Park is a beautiful place to get out and enjoy some time in the great outdoors. Whether you are an avid hiker, cyclist, or just looking for something to do with your family, there is plenty of fun things to try! In this blog post we will outline our top five favorite activities that bring us joy at Savannas Preserve located in Port St Lucie, FL 34952:
Hiking
This park has over 40 miles of hiking trails. The most popular hike is the one-mile roundtrip hike on Big Tree Loop Trail. If you’re looking for more than just a walk in the woods, head down the two-mile Indian Mound Loop Trail where you can see sandhill cranes and alligators.
Horseback Riding
Riding a horse through the woods is an absolute delight. There are seven different trails in Savannas Preserve State Park that you can ride your horses on and enjoy nature at its finest! The most popular trail for riding runs two miles around Big Tree Loop Trail, but if you’re looking for something more challenging then check out the three-mile Woodpecker Loop or five-mile Saddle Horse Trail. You can also bring all of your gear with you when you stay overnight in one of our cabins near Port St. Lucie!
Biking
We love biking here during any season because it’s so pleasant to view this natural beauty from atop a bike seat instead of walking. On Big Tree Loop Trail you can go for miles and enjoy the view. If you’re looking to get in a workout, then head over to the three-mile Micanopy Interconnect Multi-Use Path that will take you around Lake Wauburg.
Camping
Make your next trip one where there are no distractions from everyday life by camping out under the stars here at Savannas Preserve State Park! We have two different campgrounds with plenty of fun activities like hiking trails, horseback riding trails, biking paths, fishing spots, kayaking areas and more! The Pine Campground is perfect for simpler needs such as RV hookups or tent sites while we also offer cabins if that’s quite what you had in mind!
Kayaking and Canoeing
The gentle sounds of the water lapping along your kayak is a truly serene experience. Savannas Preserve State Park has six different canoe trails that you can explore, all ranging from one to seven miles in length. If you prefer kayaks over canoes then we have plenty for rent at our marina here on Lake Okeechobee and also offer two-hour guided tours (which are perfect if this is your first time out).
